The Votorantim Group is among the winners of the Governador do Estado para Cultura 2012 Award. The honor, coordinated by the Department of Culture of São Paulo State, Brazil, recognizes the artistic productions and the support of institutions to cultural projects. The company was nominated alongside four other companies and achieved 1.771 votes on the online popular poll.
On the category Patronage, which recognized organizations that value and promote culture, the Group was nominated due to investments on the Programa de Cultura (Culture Program), conducted by the Votorantim Institute. The initiative advocates and supports cultural democratization on the segments of theater, movies, video, visual arts, literature, music and historic and cultural heritage.
According to Rafael Gioielli, the Votorantim Institute’s Manager of Research and Development, the objective of the program is to increase the access of the public to culture in all regions of the country. “We aim at supporting cultural dissemination programs that enable contact of the public with the production of artists and with cultural centers”, the manager says.
The award ceremony was held on Theatro São Pedro (SP - Brazil), on the last week. For Gioielli, the victory of Votorantim shows that the population values and recognizes those institutions committed to making the culture more accessible.
