We believe that contributing to the development of the communities in which we operate is crucial to the sustainability of our operations. Therefore, all of our industrial Businesses - Votorantim Cimentos, Votorantim Metais, Votorantim Siderurgia, Citrovita, Fibria and Votorantim Energia - seek to foster local development among the communities where we have operations.
Our performance model emphasizes the opportunities for local development. The presence of our Businesses in several communities brings opportunities for socioeconomic development; we seek to maximize these opportunities through integrated projects, always in partnership with other sectors of society. With this, we hope to draw the Business strategies and focus on sustainability closer together.
This guidance includes action plans with initiatives directed mainly to education, employment and income generation, entrepreneurship, health, sports and culture.
Created in 2002, the Votorantim Institute contributes to the socioeconomic development of the regions and municipalities where the Company operates. To achieve this, it prepares policies and guidelines designed to guide Votorantim's social investments. The goal is to create shared value - that is, initiatives that provide multiple benefits for both the business and for society.
To accomplish this mission, the institute offers specialized support to the businesses in their relationship with the communities and develops programs to qualify the social activities and strengthen the culture of sustainability in the Organization. Every year, all of our Businesses identify, under the coordination of the Votorantim Institute, opportunities to enhance the External Social Investment (ESI), which aims to help drive economic dynamism and improve the human, social and institutional capital of those municipalities.
In practice, to contribute to human capital, we support projects aimed at youth in the areas of education, labor, culture, sports and rights. Concerning respect for economic dynamism, we identify and support local productive chains related to the municipalities' economic calling. Finally, we undertake projects related to social dialogue and engagement, such as the Community Boards, and contribute to structuring the corporate capital, with a Support Program for Public Management and with support to train local social organizations.
